What Visitors Say

This is called the chateau of gardens, and it is an accurate description. Chateau itself was not as extraordinary as some others, but still worthy in its own right. However, the gardens are the show stopper. We spent about an hour going through the chateau including the steps up to the top of the medieval tower for the commanding views of the garden. There is still some restoration work going on, and you only see a small portion of the chateau. Really liked the last room showing what it may have looked like to stay in a room in the 16th century. Then another hour walking leisurely through the varied garden environments. Liked that all the signs had clear English descriptions, too.

One of the most beautiful chateau gardens, truly stunning and an absolute must visit. The chateau itself was very nice inside and architecturally triumphant from the gates and throughout the garden. We arrived first thing in the morning and had the entire place to ourselves which was incredible. On our recent trip we visited 7 chateaux and this was top tier! The gardens are meticulously groomed, the parterres are some of the finest, everything is truly splendid.

The Chateau is beautifully situated next to the river Cher and rises above it. The interior of the castle is interesting but not very special. Some nice decorated rooms that you can visit via a fixed route. From the donjon, you have great views of the gardens below. Those gardens are the real reason to visit as they are very big and well layd-out. There are many types of gardens, and the kitchen gardens were most interesting as they had a lot of vegetables growing. I have never seen so much lettuce in one place.
